Ignoring context I prefer to imagine this as an echo of a 12 year old Sherlock insisting on trying some of their father’s scotch because the older visiting-from-university Mycroft is allowed to drink it. Cue Sherlock almost throwing up in his mouth and Mycroft being fondly and slightly condescendingly amused, while also tutting at good scotch being wasted.
