Your Work is Now DIAMONDS!
I ramble on a bit towards the end, but today’s vlog deals with the insecurity that everyone has, has had, or will have about showing their work to others, whether that be in a competitive environment or to peers.
My argument is that being “good” is as most people see it, a craft, which will get better over time - and if you are in this for life, you will get better.
So the ability to render something and produce it, while it is valuable, the more important aspect of sharing your work, in this case a portfolio for review, is sharing your ability to look at something critically, and use your creative problem solving abilities. This ability is understanding theory, and application of. That is something that will never change no matter what type of job you are given. It demonstrates that you can adapt because you have a skill set that is not dependent on your craftmanship, but a cratmanship that is produced because of your inherent skill set.
So try not to think about whether or not your work is good, but try to see it as a narrative of your process, and why your decisions in that process were good. :)
